Have you ever Googled yourself? How much information did you find? More importantly, how much wasn't on Google? Careful... just because something isn't found in a search engine it doesn't mean it isn't available. If you think that there isn't much about you in the digital world, you are wrong. In this section you'll learn about what information may be out there and why it's important to protect your reputation in the digital world.

Why should you care about your digital footprint?
Anything you do with digital media: signing up for a social media site, sending an email to a friend, texting, using a debit card, posting a comment or photo, and even just doing a search or visiting a website leaves a trail of information. This trail represents who you are, it grows every day and it is PERMANENT. This information can influence other people's ideas about your personality, capabilities and honesty. It's very important that you take care of your digital reputation for the you of the future.
Activity - Trillion Dollar Footprint
In this activity, you are in charge of hiring a new host for a TV reality show. There are two candidates and you need to decide who is best for the job.
STEP 1 - Open and save this document (FROM USB) - Trillion Dollar Footprint.
STEP 2 - Open up the PDF LINK on page 3 of the document. Read the information about the contestants and look for clues about each person and whether they work well with others and are honest.
STEP 3 - Using your capture tool, create a profile for each candidate. Then fill in your sheet with evidence you've found that shows if the candidate works well with others and is honest. Finally, reveal your choice and explain why you chose them.
